The admission to B.Tech is through Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) or Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The institute provides B.Tech in 6 branches namely, Mechnical, Electrical, Electronics & Tele Communication, Computer Science, Civil, and Applied Electronics & Instrumentation engineering. KIST has total of 540 seats in B.Tech programme. The minimum eligibility for OJEE is having passing marks in +2 in science stream.Under post graduate programme, KIST has Master in technology i.e. M.Tech and Master in Business Administration i.e. MBA. Admission to M.Tech programme is strictly based on merit rank of PGAT or GATE of the concerned academic year. KIST provides 5 branches in M.Tech programme namely, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Science, and Nano technology. Admission to MBA programme is based on the rank in Orissa Joint Entrance Examination. KIST has total 60 seats in MBA programme.
