About CSIR The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), known for its cutting edge R&D knowledgebase in diverse S&T areas, is a contemporary R&D organization. Having pan-India presence, CSIR has a dynamic network of 38 national laboratories, 39 outreach centres, 3 Innovation Complexes and 5 units. CSIR’s R&D expertise and experience is embodied in about 4600 active scientists supported by about 8000 scientific and technical personnel. Pioneer of India’s intellectual property movement, CSIR today is strengthening its patent portfolio to carve out global niches for the country in select technology domains.  CSIR is granted 90% of US patents granted to any Indian publicly funded R&D organization.  On an average CSIR files about 200 Indian patents and 250 foreign patents per year.  About 13.86% of CSIR patents are licensed - a number which is above the global average.  CSIR - NET CSIR conducts the Joint CSIR UGC NET, which is a national level entrance examination in the field of Science including Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences. Eligibility for CSIR NET The interested candidates must have acquired their Masters' degree in Science stream. They should have scored 55 percent and above in the eligibility exam and should have done the course from a certified university.

CSIR-NET:

CSIR-NET CSIR - NET CSIR conducts the Joint CSIR UGC NET, which is a national level entrance examination in the field of Science including Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences. Eligibility for CSIR NET The interested candidates must have acquired their Masters' degree in Science stream. Junior Research Fellowship Junior Research Fellowship or JRF is a fellowship of Rs 25000 per month, which is offered by both CSIR and UGC to the eligible and selected candidates through written exams, held twice a year. The fellowship is given to students to pursue their doctoral studies

CSIR JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (JRF) :

CSIR JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (JRF) JRFs are awarded each year by CSIR to candidates holding BS-4 years program/BE/B. Tech/B. Pharma/MBBS/ Integrated BS-MS/M.Sc. or Equivalent degree/BSc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders  or students enrolled in integrated MS- Ph.D  program with at least 55% marks for General & OBC (50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually handicapped candidates) after qualifying the National Eligibility Test ( NET) conducted by CSIR twice a year June and December.   Candidates with bachelor’s degree, whether Science, engineering or any other discipline, will be eligible for fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for  Ph.D /integrated Ph.D.  programme  within the validity period of two years . Candidate enrolled for M.Sc. or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited (RA) category.

   AGE LIMIT The upper age limit for applying for the award of JRF shall be 28 years, which is relaxed  upto  5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes / Schedule Tribes/ OBC, Physically Handicapped/ Visually Handicapped and Female applicants . SELECTION PROCEDURE The Selection for award of JRF shall be made on the basis of a competitive written test called the National Eligibility Test (NET), conducted by CSIR at national level twice a year in the following areas (1) Chemical Sciences (2) Earth, Atmosphere, Ocean and Planetary Sciences (3) Life Sciences, (4) Mathematical Sciences, (5) Physical Sciences, and (6) Engineering Sciences. The candidates who qualify the test are informed individually. The Fellowship is awarded on receipt of necessary details of the qualifying degree examination, proposed place of research work, research topic, the name of supervisor and the concurrence of the Institution to provide all the necessary facilities. The validity of the offer of the JRF award is two years and will not be extendable.
