Introduction:

Introduction The home is the most important training ground for children. World evangelism should be a major point of emphasis in the Christian home. The children of today will be the missionaries, pastors, and laymen of tomorrow. Will they have a Biblical worldview?

Be Open to God’s Will for a Child’s Life:

Be Open to God’s Will for a Child’s Life Don’t discourage their interest in missions Don’t make them think that being a missionary is distasteful or second-class Many are called to missions work

Be Open to God’s Will for a Child’s Life:

Be Open to God’s Will for a Child’s Life Focus on God’s purpose – not “What do you want to do with your life?” but “What does God want to do with your life?” You cannot and should not call a child to specific missionary service, but you can and should foster an attitude of surrender to God’s will.

Be Open to God’s Will for a Child’s Life:

Be Open to God’s Will for a Child’s Life It is important that the parents are also surrendered to God’s will for the child. Often the biggest hindrance to missions is the attitude of the family. The parent may discourage the child from yielding to God, because the parent himself has not done so

Prepare Your Family to Serve God :

Prepare Your Family to Serve God Even if you are not on the foreign mission field, your family should be involved in God’s work Parent – have you yielded your own desires for your family and yourself to the Lord? What are you doing about the materialistic emphasis in the USA

Prepare Your Family to Serve God :

Prepare Your Family to Serve God Let your children get used to ministering rather than being entertained in youth programs Go to a nursing home Visitation involvement Bus ministry or Bible club Volunteer to help out in church

Prepare Your Family to Serve God :

Prepare Your Family to Serve God If the child grows up with the mentality of serving in church rather than being entertained and served in church, they will be much more open to the missionary call.

Biggest hindrances…:

Biggest hindrances… Desire for the “American dream” = nice home, family, good job, financial security Focus on what I get rather than what I give Unwillingness to have children “suffer” some deprivations from all the “goodies” of the USA

Hindrances:

Hindrances Desire to see grandchildren, and “who will care for me in my old age?” Prestige, where missions work may be considered low prestige Professional advancement Church which is uninterested

Conclusion:

Conclusion World evangelism should be promoted in the Christian home. Is your family mission-minded?
