June 13, 2011 Budget Meeting:

June 13, 2011 Budget Meeting Pool Facilities Manager was told she would be reduced to part time yet received a letter from Sue Kelly stating she would be working 19.5 hours. When the Board was questioned on this Wheeler Maynard responded “All part time employees are 19.5 hours and do not receive benefits.” This is NOT true for one an Interpreter hired for part time was given an extra 15 minutes a day so that she could get her benefits. Yet 6 minutes was taken from a 23 year employee. Can raises to Non-Union staff take place while operating under a contingency budget? Rocky & Wheeler stated “No raises are taking place.”

June 13, 2011 Budget Meeting FOILS we submitted were not completely answered, we asked “When can we request this to be fulfilled?” Sue Kelly answered “I gave you everything, but what I am waiting on from Verizon.” Cell phone bill appears to be more personal use than business use, but can’t verify that as the pages are missing. Wheeler states “We let them use the cell phones for their personal use as long as they don’t go over the allotted minutes.”

June 13, 2011 Budget Meeting California trip is lacking lots of receipts & the information was never supplied as requested for the Guest that Michelle Varian was allowed to take with her. Sue Kelly “If we were looking for more information we should have been more specific.” Current CSE chair is stepping down & we have been told that Sue Kelly is going to take this on for $10,000 a year? Can you clarify why the budget was voted down by the community?

June 13, 2011 Budget Meeting What was the general fund balance at the beginning of the year, and what is the balance now? Dean of Students position that was created to meet the contingency administrative cap. One third of her salary was moved to programs while 2/3’s remains in administration. What is the total cost to the district that has been spent in defending the pending law suit against the school regarding the decisions that were made under Sue Kelly’s administration?

Violation of Athletic Contractual policies and procedures Not informing parents of a decision making meeting Policies regarding crime scenes Relieving employees of their positions Bullying 310 signatures were submitted for the removal of Sue Kelly. Wheeler states “his phone was ringing off the wall with people who think Sue is doing a fine job.”

June 13, 2011 Board Meeting 8 people were accepted for tenure 2 resignations of Amanda Siver & Bruce Hanson who were forced out of their jobs by Sue Kelly were accepted. Custodian/Cleaners were transferred around (2 from full time to full time). Business/technology teacher was transferred to a K-6 class BOCES technology teacher was completely cut One Teacher’s aide was laid off other was tabled for discussion at next meeting. Pool Facility Manager was cut to became a part time Lifeguard position. Sue Kelly’s contract was renewed for 5 years

Superintendent’s Contract:

Superintendent’s Contract Can be found at www.seethroughny.com (click on contracts, school districts, change school district drop down to Edwards-Knox and contract type drop down to super, click go and then the download link) During the term of this agreement, the Superintendent shall faithfully, diligently, and in accordance with accepted professional standards perform and discharge the duties and responsibilities of Superintendent of Schools of the District as the same are set forth in the Education Law and other applicable statutes, laws, rules, and/or regulations, and the duties and/or responsibilities established by the Board pursuant to such statutes, laws, rules, and/or regulations.

Superintendent’s Contract:

Superintendent’s Contract The Board shall notify the Superintendent, on or before June 30, 2011, whether it intends to extend her employment for an additional year commencing on July 1, 2012, or whether the Superintendents term will expire on July 30, 2012. By June 30 of each school year thereafter the Board shall likewise act to notify the Superintendent whether it intends to extend her employment for an additional year commencing on July 1 of the year set for termination of the then current contract. At such time, a motion to extend the term of this Agreement and the Superintendents employment for an additional one (1) year period will be moved, seconded, and voted upon by the Board. The failure of the Board to act in accordance herewith shall not cause this Agreement or the employment of the Superintendent to be extended beyond the then current expiration date.
