Positive Attitude Myth versus Truth:

Myth: Positive attitude means I am happy all the time. Truth: Remaining positive no matter what I am feeling. Example: I experience challenges with a family member. I can remain positive even if I am not happy about it. Exercise: What is happening in your life right now that you ’ d like to be more “ positive ” about? Acknowledge what is. Being Positive = I Like What’s Happening:

Myth: Positive attitude means I like what ’ s happening in my life. Truth: Positive attitude means I might not like what ’ s happening but I make the choice to grow from it. Example: I experience challenges with a family member. I accept the challenge as opportunity to learn and grow. I still may not like it but I accept it as it is. Exercise: What is something that is happening in your life right now that you can accept as an opportunity to have a positive attitude even if you do not like it?
