It is located in grand nature of Hakone that was once called one of the most rugged paths in Japan. The garden with a view of the mountains of Hakone and changing four seasons provides an ideal outdoor setting to show oversized sculptures. The museum was founded in 1969 by Nobutaka Shikanai, retired president of Japan's largest communications conglomerate, the Fujisankei Group. One of the most popular exhibits at the museum is Symphonic Sculpture by Gabriel Loire, a steel and stained glass tower rising 18 metres and topped by an outdoor deck with spectacular views of the distant mountains.
