DEALING WITH STAGE 5 CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE Chronic kidney disease, as the name tells, is a drop in kidney function, usually over a time period. Unlike acute kidney disease, which is a sudden failure of the kidney, CKD usually develops in people who are already ill. CKD advances in five stages, indicating mild to moderate to severe damage to the kidneys. The last stage, also called stage 5, or end-stage renal disease, is mind-boggling and puts a person’s living at risk. The person with stage 5 CKD either has kidneys that are about to fail or have failed already. Usually, at this time, GFR drops to 15 or even less, which indicates that kidneys are unclear and inefficient in keeping up with their function. Your nephrologist will help decide the right treatment approach; you may either require dialysis or a transplant along with Ayurveda as a cotreatment approach. Ayurveda is comprehensive care for people suffering from severe conditions, including kidney disease. While other treatments like dialysis, act as an artificial kidney, Ayurvedic treatment for CKD stage 5 meanwhile works to reinvigorate the damaged cells and tissues. Slowly and gradually, the kidney function starts to return as the medicinal herbs show their effects on the body. Source : Dealing With Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease

The other reason why CKD is believed to be life-threatening is because of its capacity to remain undiagnosed for a long time. The symptoms are hardly experienced by everyone and often misleading or confusing. People confuse them with other conditions and delay the right treatment approach. The common symptoms to have in stage 5 kidney disease, or kidney failure, include: Loss of appetite Nausea or vomiting Headaches Fatigue or tiredness Back pain Difficulty concentrating Itchiness Inability to urinate Blood in the urine Smelly urine Swelling, particularly in the ankles and around the eyes or face Muscle cramping Trouble breathing Difficulty sleeping Tingling in hands or feet Changes in skin color Increased pigmentation on the skin Anemia Bone and mineral disorder Source : Dealing With Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF STAGE 5 CKD? Chronic kidney disease occurs when the kidneys lose more than 80% of their function. This leads to disrupted kidney function over a few years. Diabetes and hypertension are the leading causes of chronic kidney disease. Both are known to cause damage to the blood vessels over a time period which impacts the blood flow and result in impaired kidney function. The other conditions that trigger the risk of chronic kidney disease include Inflammation of the kidney’s structural units Glomerulonephritis (inflammation of the glomeruli) Interstitial nephritis (an inflammation of the kidne y’s tubules and surrounding structures) Polycystic kidney disease Prolonged obstruction of the urinary tract by conditions such as stones or pyelonephritis, enlarged prostate, and tumors of the kidneys OTC consumption for a long time Some autoimmune disorders also elevate the risk of chronic kidney disease Source : Dealing With Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease

CAN YOU LIVE WITH STAGE 5 CKD? Your longevity with chronic kidney disease is dependent on the treatment you have approached. If you want to live longer and healthy, call upon Ayurvedic treatment for CKD stage 5 along with dialysis or transplant. Ayurveda increases your life span by coordinating your mind and body and keeping off all the toxins. It is one of the best ways to improve self-healing capacity. We all are born with a healthy immune system, and our body has the capacity to initiate self-healing in the first place in case of any disorder. But as we grow and our lifestyle changes, this capacity of ours reduces over time, and we tend to fall sick often. Ayurveda is one realistic approach to bring back the lost healing and improve the make-up of the body, which also includes detoxification of the body. If you choose dialysis, you can improve life expectancy by five to ten years on average, though this is individualized, and you may live more or less depending on your health, according to the National Kidney Foundation. If you choose a transplant procedure, on average, you may live up to anywhere between 12 to 20 years if you have received a transplant from a living donor. On the contrary, in the case of a deceased donor transplant, the life expectancy is somewhere between 8 to 12 years. Source : Dealing With Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease

Even if you are in the last stage of CKD, there are certain things you can adopt to improve or prevent the burden on the kidneys, such as: Following a healthy diet that is kidney-friendly. Cook simple food at home and eat it instead of savoring on junk. Ask your dietician about the right quantity of water you may have. Cut down alcohol and smoking habits. Practice stress management. Yoga and meditation are the best ways to regulate blood pressure, one of the serious complications of stage 5 CKD. Make healthy choices in life and adopt Ayurvedic treatment for CKD stage 5 for a healthy recovery. MEASURE TO KEEP THE KIDNEY FUNCTIONAL Source : Dealing With Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease
