PowerPoint Presentation:

Bottled Water VS. Tap Water 3/28/2013

PowerPoint Presentation:

Bottled water is found everywhere you turn in stores, restaurants, vending machines, offices etc… There are no calories and it’s much better than sodas and other beverages, while it is easy to carry and more convenient . 3/28/2013

What’s the real difference between the two?:

What’s the real difference between the two? Bottled Water Tap Water Bottled water sold across state lines is regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA ). Cost more than Tap water convenient to have and carry with you everywhere. Tap water from a municipal drinking water treatment plant is regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA ). It is tested frequently for close to a hundred chemicals and characteristics. Cost less than bottled water. 3/28/2013

Thesis Statement:

Thesis Statement We should consider all the facts that comes from buying bottled water and try to help preserve our planet’s health as well as ours by drinking tap water instead. It will also save money. 3/28/2013

PowerPoint Presentation:

“According to the Earth Policy Institute in Washington estimated that it takes about 1.5 million barrels of oil to make the water bottles that so many of us Americans use each year. Which could fuel 100,000 cars a year instead. And only 23 percent of those bottles get recycled.” ( Kirszner , Mandell 20). 3/28/2013

PowerPoint Presentation:

The questions we need to ask ourselves is: When tasting bottled water vs. tap water, are you able to taste a difference? 2) Is there any harmful bacteria in drinking tap water? 3) Why do you chose one over the other? 4) Which cost more bottled water or tap water? 5) What effects that can happen from drinking bottled water vs. tap water? 3/28/2013

PowerPoint Presentation:

3/28/2013 Sales of bottled water in this country have exploded in recent years, largely as a result of a public perception of purity driven by advertisements and packaging labels featuring pristine glaciers and crystal-clear mountain springs.

PowerPoint Presentation:

B ottled water sold in the United States is not necessarily cleaner or safer than most tap water, according to a four-year scientific study recently made public by NRDC. ( ). 3/28/2013

Water Bottle Waste:

Water Bottle Waste Americans empty 2.5 million plastic water bottles an hour. Each one takes 500 years to decompose. 3/28/2013

PowerPoint Presentation:

3/28/2013 One major issue with bottled water is the fact that the plastic bottles themselves decay at a slow rate which makes it hard to recycle and the result of that is that majority of the bottles still may exists somewhere so why are people still purchasing bottled water after knowing this?

PowerPoint Presentation:

3/28/2013 Americans have an abundant supply of drinking water options whether it comes from the bottle or from tap but buying water bottles can be harmful in two ways first it can hurt our environment and second it can be very expensive on your wallet.

People don’t realize that about one-fourth of bottled water is actually bottled tap water according to government and industry estimates (some estimates go as high as 40 percent). :

PowerPoint Presentation:

After reading the article In Praise of Tap Water, I had to analyze the message that the author was trying to get across to the readers in relevance to people and their need to purchase and drink bottled water over tap water. This article was very persuasive in the way that the author uses logos, pathos, and ethos throughout the argument. I had to make sure that the information was credible by asking myself these questions. Does the writer demonstrate knowledge of the subject? Does the writer maintain a reasonable tone? What steps does the writer take to present himself as a reasonable person? Does the writer seem fair? 3/28/2013

PowerPoint Presentation:

In conclusion, Many Americans need to be informed more about the threats plastic bottles poses on the Earth’s environment, and stop buying bottled water and start back drinking from the tap. 3/28/2013

PowerPoint Presentation:

3/28/2013 “The real change, though, will come when millions of ordinary consumers realize that they can save money, and save the planet, by turning in their water bottles and turning on the tap.”( Kirszner , Mandell 20).
