Mid – Semester Reflection & Feedback :

Mid – Semester Reflection & Feedback Kelly Arent ED 5700 Teaching with Technology Summer I 2008

I have learned… :

I have learned… what a blog is and how it can be used as a reflective tool in the learning process what a wiki is and how it can be used as a collaborative learning tool how to set up a personal web page

I have also learned… :

I have also learned… about bookmarking and tagging web sites using the social networking tool del.icio.us about the free professional development website Tapped – In about web 2.0 and the powerful capabilities that it can bring to the classroom

I have also learned… :

I have also learned… that educating the children of the 21st century requires a new mind set and new methods of teaching 21st century learners, aka digital natives, want technology to be an integral part of their learning process

I will apply what I have learned by… :

I will apply what I have learned by… creating a custom made website for my classroom to keep students and parents updated on classroom events creating a classroom blog for students to reflect on their learning and discuss topics of interest

I will apply what I have learned by… :

I will apply what I have learned by… creating a website for family and friends to visit to keep them updated with changes in my life creating a personal blog where I can reflect on events in my life

I will apply what I have learned by… :

I will apply what I have learned by… sharing useful and helpful websites with my students through the social networking tool del.icio.us integrating technology into my lessons creating “edutaining” lessons/activities for my students

I were to explain this course to someone I would tell them TWT challenges you… :

I were to explain this course to someone I would tell them TWT challenges you… to think differently about the way you currently teach your students to be open minded when it comes to learning about new technology to survive in a technological world that is changing before our eyes

I feel that this course… :

I feel that this course… has opened my eyes to personal and educational technology has changed my perspective on teaching today’s learners should be a required professional development course for all current and new teachers

I also feel that this course… :

I also feel that this course… should only be offered during the fall or spring semesters does allow enough time to experiment with one technology before moving onto the next (hence the first comment ) has made me better at time management

What is good about this course is… :

What is good about this course is… you learn something new everyday everything you learn can be applied to your personal and professional life that you are placed in cooperative groups that provide an excellent support system

What is also good about this course is… :

What is also good about this course is… you can feel comfortable expressing your opinions about technology and the course itself you can ask as many questions as you would like and get immediate feedback you meet many creative people

If I could, I would change… :

If I could, I would change… the layout of the Moodle site so that assignments and their descriptions could all be found in one place when the assignments for the next class are posted since sometimes I only have a few hours to complete several lengthy assignments

If I could, I would change… :

If I could, I would change… the way we do class discussions so that we all do not have to answer the same question the number of assignments in one week so that we had time to truly learn and reflect on one topic before moving to the next

Feedback :

Feedback Course Textbooks I find the EDUCAUSE textbook a lot easier to read and follow. The TDC textbook is really a supplement to another book that we don’t have. If we had the actual TDC book it might be better.

Feedback :

Feedback Supplemental Reading & Websites Very helpful Provides up – to – date information on topics Provides useful knowledge that can be transferred to the classroom

Feedback :

Feedback Discussion Forums Excellent for expressing your feelings and sharing your view point Feedback from class mates has been reinforcing and helpful Easy for posting assignments and links

Feedback :

Feedback Assignments & Projects Love creating the website and blog Still unsure about the personal wiki, but I am enjoying the group wiki Group projects are interesting and meaningful
