Instructional Systems Theory and Emergency Management:

Instructional Systems Theory and Emergency Management By John Corrigan PAD4391

Instructional Systems Theory:

Instructional Systems Theory What is it? Theory that information for training should be well-organized and effective. Follows the concept of Instructional Design System. Definition – systematic process by which instructional materials are designed, developed, and delivered. Designed to provide up-to-date information and materials in order to effectively train people.

Instructional Design Method:

Instructional Design Method First, the current state and needs of learner must be determined. Second, the end goal of instruction must be defined. Third, establish a way to assist transition. The outcome may be directly observed or measured scientifically or unknown and assumed.

Instructional Design Method cont.:

Instructional Design Method cont. Most common Instructional method is the A.D.D.I.E. model. It is the basis of instructional systems design. A nalysis D esign D evelopment I mplementation E valuation

Instructional Systems Theory in Emergency Management:

Instructional Systems Theory in Emergency Management Emergency management techniques and practices are continuously changing and revised. In order to have the most efficient management possible, training must adapt and continue along with emergency management. Example, A.D.D.I.E. model is uses rapid prototyping. Continual feedback is received while new instructional materials are created. Creates the most effective and efficient emergency management practices.

Instructional Systems Theory in Emergency Management cont.:

Instructional Systems Theory in Emergency Management cont. Emergency Management personnel use instructional designs theory in training for every major area.

Application of Instructional Systems Theory:

Application of Instructional Systems Theory Communication is key in the event of an emergency. Using IST to properly train personnel communication methods and processes. Preparedness through preparation and creation of emergency plans. Test exercises and pre-planned evacuation routes. By constantly reviewing and training through instructional systems theory implementation, emergency management operations will be ready for the worst.
