Symptoms Intense cough Shortness of breath Wheezing Chest pain Coughing up of blood (hemoptysis) Shoulder pain associated with nerve damage Paralysis of vocal cords Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) Pneumonia and bronchitis Pain in the bones due to metastasis

Prevention DO NOT SMOKE! If you do smoke…STOP SMOKING! Avoid second hand smoke if you can -Test your home for radon -Avoid toxic chemicals at work -Eat more fruits and vegetables -Drink alcohol in moderation, if at all -Exercise daily By no means is there a way to prevent Lung Cancer, these are just methods to reduce the risk of getting it.

Wrap Up Points Lung cancer is a cancer of the lungs, with two types small cell and non-small cell. Older adults, people who are exposed to toxic chemicals, and people who smoke are at a greater risk. Smoking is a major risk factor to getting lung cancer. MRI, PET, and CAT scans are a few methods of testing for lung cancer. Although it cannot be prevented, not smoking and exercising more can decrease the chances of getting it.
