Wind Power/Energy Questions::

Wind Power/Energy Questions: 1.Give a brief (1 -2 sentence) description of this type of energy. 2.Where does this form of energy occur? 3.Is it a renewable or non-renewable source of energy? How do you know? 4.How does society use it? List at least 3 things that run on this type of power. Include a picture for each. 5.Are there any negative effects when this source of energy is transformed for practical use? 6.What are the positive effects of using this source of energy over other forms of energy?

Question 1:

Question 1 “Wind energy as an alternative to fossil fuels, is plentiful, renewable, widely distributed, clean, produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operation and uses little land .”

Question 2:

Question 2 “Wind energy comes from the wind. It is energy produced by the natural effects of the wind; Wind is caused by the uneven heating of the earth's surface by the sun”

Question 3:

Question 3 “Wind energy is renewable. We know this because wind is constantly flowing. Wind is naturally produced by the earth. Thus it is renewable because it’s renewed by the natural effects of the Earth .”

Question 4:

Question 4 Society uses wind power to light houses, heat homes, and microwave popcorn!

Question 5:

Question 5 “ Some negative effects of wind power are that on days that are not windy, the energy won’t be there. Also, your wind turbine could break and you will have to conserve power (A wind turbine is a turbine with a large wheel rotated by the wind to generate electricity ).”

Question 6:

Question 6 Positive Effects of using Wind Energy over other forms of Energy are: It’s green R enewable energy E nergy efficient No Greenhouse gases Free fuel
