Although Generally Associated in many peoples’ mind s with Biomediation, i.e., the use of living –organisms to help cleanup the environment, , environmental Biotechnology includes a wide variety of Applications. B iofiltration  is a  pollution control technique using living material to capture and biologically degrade process pollutants.    The air flows through a packed bed and the pollutant transfers into thin  biofilm  on the surface of the packing material.  Microorganisms , including bacteria and  fungi are immobilized in the biofilm and degrade the pollutant. INTRO BIOFUELS B iodiesel is a renewable, clean-burning diesel replacement. Made from a diverse mix of feedstock including recycled cooking oil,soyabean oil, and animal fats, it is the first to reach 1 billions gallon of annual production. Meeting strict technical fuel quality and engine performance specifications, it can be used in existing diesel engines without modification. India Takes the 47 th Rank in the annual ranking of Countries according to their score for innovation in biotech.
