Speech language pathologist scope of practice  The Scope of Practice in Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association ASHA includes the following.  The speech-language pathologist SLP is defined as the professional who engages in professional practice in the areas of communication and swallowing across the life span.  The scope of practice outlines the breadth of professional services offered within the profession of speech-language pathology.  This scope of practice in speech-language pathology statement is an official policy of the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association ASHA.  Speech-Language Pathologist" means an individual who practices speech-language pathology who makes a non- medical evaluation.
