Life Application Bible Study:

Life Application Bible Study The breast cancer survivor in this article said Psalm 23:1-6 is her favorite passage of scripture. It was read to her by her grandmother and she sees the passage as words of comfort, healing, and a source of strength. When someone is sick in your community, what verses in this passage do you read to them or say to yourself? Why ? The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. (Ps 23:1) This verse literarily sums up the awesome vastness of God. When we are aware of that, we realize that it is impossible to lack anything He desires for us to have. Notice that I said, “He desires for us to have.” Our God is able to do anything in His will for our lives. So I repeat, The Lord is my Shepherd (Guide, Source, All), therefore, I shall not want (lack, be in need). He satisfies our every need in His will.

Life Application Bible Study 2. Can you name a familiar prayer that you recite when you hear that someone close to you is not feeling well ? The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe. (Pro 18:10)

Life Application Bible Study 3. From a heart to heart perspective, how does this passage challenge you to trust God when you or someone close to you is not feeling well? God has so many names that self-explain what they mean and stand for. God is the Healer, Conqueror, our Salvation, our Shield, our Defender, our Protector, our Father, our Rock, our Fortress, our Creator, our High Tower, our Righteousness, our Strength, our Joy, our Sanctifier, our Exceeding Great Reward, our Rearward, etc.

Life Application Bible Study 4. Identify the audience that you think David was writing to in Psalm 23 and why ? I believe David wrote this to encourage a discouraged and fearful group. Through his own personal experience, by spending quality time with God while rearing his father’s sheep, he discovered the intimate relationship that is available for and to us all if we take the time to draw nearer to Him (God). Through the experience, he was able to know and realize that God is ALL SUFFICIENT-------He is my Shepherd, I shall not want!!!!

Life Application Bible Study 5. How does your community or church respond to those who need healing? What resources are available to them? The first thing my home church does in response to those who need healing is prayer. Prayer is our first on the scene response action. This is then subsequently followed by visitation where it is required and followed by other acts of services. Since healing is so broad based and not limited to physical limitations, we also use wise discretion as God inspires by His spirit to direct those in need to the appropriate resources that may not be directly under our disbursement.

Life Application Bible Study 6. In your opinion, what is more important, a healing or a cure and why ? Healing is a process in which an organism's health is restored; curing is a method that promotes healing. From this definition, I believe both are necessary and important. Since cure or curing is the first leg of the relay race, then healing is definitely necessary in order for the race to conclude or be completed to avoid disqualification. When cure is engineered, healing should be the ultimate goal of the effort. Then again, you can be cured and not healed and you can be healed and not cured. That will take another topic to explain.

Life Application Bible Study 7. When you read the article on the founder of Bold and Breastless what were your initial thoughts? She has overcome a lot. What other verses in the Bible subscribe to healing that you have used as part of your journey of faith? The founder has overcome a lot. God empowered her to face her challenges and use it to encourage others who may be travelling the same course without the boldness that God has given her: (2Corinthians 1:3-7). God is the one that heals all our diseases. Exodus 15:26 Psalm 103:3.

Life Application Bible Study 8. Is there anything else that you would like to add? May God continue to bless and inspire you by His Spirit to do His will, in Jesus’ name. Thanks for the opportunity. -- Desiree Tisdol

Life Application Bible Study:

Life Application Bible Study What is faith about? Shondia McFadden- Sabari believes faith is the key to healing and if her joy and peace is an indicator, the founder of BOLD AND BREASTLESS, is quite an example. The former teacher recently celebrated her two-year anniversary with overcoming breast cancer. A mother of two, McFadden- Sabari is happily married to Wali . She was not raised by her parents, but still loves her parents, including her father, who came back into her life as a support, about two years ago. SUMMARY
