INTRODUCTION... Three most important issues in the world :- Fuel crisis or obsolescence of conventional resources. Alarming raise in Global Warming. Disposal of Organic or Bio-waste. ALGAE and MFC seems to be a promising way out.

About Algae...:

About Algae... The concept has been developed by Dr. Pierre Calleja, biochemist based from France. He has been studying about these algae for over two decades. Two types of algae ; Microalgae and Macroalgae.

Cont...:

Cont... Not only produces energy, but consumes CO 2 also. Algae can consume 1 ton CO 2 in just about 1 year, where as a tree does it in its whole lifetime. Produces energy and cleans the air.

Microbial Fuel Cell… 'Microbial Fuel Cell' (MFC) can help convert bio-waste into electricity.   A typical microbial fuel cell consists of anode and cathode compartments separated by a cation . In general, there are two types of microbial fuel cells: mediator and mediator-less microbial fuel cells.

Cont … Microbial Fuel cell is bio-electrochemical fuel cell where the anode reaction is controlled by microorganisms.  'Anode respiratory bacteria' have the ability to convert bio-waste to electrons.

WORKING PROCEDURE...:

WORKING PROCEDURE... Algae produces energy through photosynthesis by combining sunlight, H 2 O, and CO 2 . That light energy is converted into chemical energy and stored as bonds of sugars (Carbohydrates). This process takes place in the chloroplasts. Water is split into oxygen, protons and electrons in presence of sunlight. Synthesizing of sugars occurs by proteins and exited electrons generate the tiny electrical current.

CONCLUSION AND FUTURE SCOPE... These form have a stylish and futuristic vibe. In the future, MFC’s may be linked to municipal waste streams or sources of agricultural and animal waste, providing a sustainable system for waste treatment and energy production. Great asset for our future generation.
