PowerPoint Presentation:

OTT (Over-the-top) – refers to the delivery of video, audio, and other media over the Internet without a multiple system operator (MSO) being involved in the control or distribution of the content.

Set Top Box – A device that converts video content to analog or digital TV signals. For years, the set-top box (STB) was the cable box that "sat on top" of the TV. Apple TV and Roku boxes connect to the home network for Internet access and convert video from Netflix, Hulu and other providers into TV signals.

SmartTV or Connected TV –describes a trend of integration of the Internet and Web 2.0 features into television sets and set-top boxes, as well as the technological convergence between computers and television sets and set-top boxes. The devices have a higher focus on online interactive media, Internet TV, over-the-top (OTT) content, as well as on-demand streaming media, and home networking access, with much less focus on traditional broadcast media.

Video Game Console – The term video game console was once used solely for devices that allowed users to play video games on TV but the new generation of consoles play various types of streaming media such as music, TV shows, and movies (Wii, Xbox, PlayStation).

Streaming – 1 ) technology that permits continuous audio and video delivered to a computer, TV or SmartTV ; 2 ) an Internet data transfer technique that allows the user to see and hear audio and video files. The host or source compresses, then "streams" small packets of information over the Internet to the user, who can access the content as it is received.

Live Streaming – refers to content delivered LIVE over the Internet. For example, “The network live-streamed every competition through its Olympic website.”
