File Sharing SetupWindows Vista Step by step presentation on how to enable file sharing on a computer running the Windows Vista.

Control Panel : 

To view your workstation’s network connections, click the Start button on the taskbar, then select Control Panel Control Panel

Control Panel : 

Under the Network and Internet heading, click View network status and tasks. Control Panel

Network and Sharing Center : 

The Network and Sharing Center window appears displaying your network connections. Network and Sharing Center

If your workstation is connected to a network, click View status to learn more about this connection. Network and Sharing Center

The Local Area Connection Status window appears. Note that from this window you can find out whether your connection supports IPv4 or IPv6 connectivity, the duration, and the speed of your connection, among other things. Network and Sharing Center

The options below the Sharing and Discovery heading allow you to share files and locally attached printers in various ways. Sharing and Discovery

Click the down arrow to the right of the Public folder sharing option to reveal a list of choices related to sharing files in the computer’s public folder. Turn on sharing. Sharing and Discovery

Notice that the File sharing and Password protected sharing options have also been turned on based on your decision to allow public folder sharing. Sharing and Discovery

To remove public folder sharing privileges, click the down arrow next to Public folder sharing option, click Turn off sharing, then click Apply to save your changes. Sharing and Discovery

Now click the down arrow on the right side of the File sharing line and click Turn off file sharing from the options that appear, then click Apply. Sharing and Discovery
