Every year Republic Day is celebrated in India on 26th January. Since 1950 this date is commemorated to honour the day on which the Constitution of India came into effect. After years of struggle and suppression India became independent from the rule of British Raj and forged its path towards becoming a democratic nation. This occasion helps us celebrate the many milestones of our nation and encourages us to continue working towards more national advancements. Republic Day also reminds us of the need to contribute to the progress of our nation and support one another especially the underprivileged. Millions of underprivileged children in India are deprived of their basic rights and this cruel reality needs to change. From a lack of education and healthcare facilities to child abuse in India in the form of child labour child marriage and gender inequality — children from varied underprivileged communities face a lot of trauma and abuse. This is why citizens of India need to join hands to work towards empowering children and helping them lead happier and healthier childhoods. Volunteering is one of the best ways to serve the country by helping underprivileged children via mindful and dedicated actions. Offering one’s time and efforts can help the volunteer create a long-term change in the lives of children and also help them undergo a transformational
