Texas Statistics:

Texas Statistics There are 47,409 confirmed child abuse victims in Texas. 30,167 of those children were taken into CPS custody. 66% of all Texas prison inmates were in foster care at one time because of abuse or neglect.

How it Works:

How it Works When a home is no longer safe and a child must enter foster care, a judge may appoint a CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocate. This volunteer helps to guide that child to a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible.

CASA Speaks U p F or a C hild A CASA represents the best interest of abused and neglected children in court. A CASA ensures that our foster care children are quickly placed in a permanent, safe and nurturing environment.

History of CASA of the Coastal Bend :

History of CASA of the Coastal Bend The local program was established by Junior League of Corpus Christi in 1991. CASA of the Coast Bend was assigned its first case in May of 1992. CASA of the Coastal Bend also serves the abused and neglected children of San Patricio and Aransas Counties.

CASA is a Good Investment for Corpus Christi’s Future:

CASA is a Good I nvestment for Corpus Christi’s Future Children with a CASA volunteer are: More likely to pass all their classes in school. CASA saves children’s lives and taxpayers’ money. Less likely to spend three or more years in foster care. Less likely to re-enter care once they find a permanent home.

Our Vision:

Our Vision A CASA volunteer for every child who needs one Our Goals Expand and Train CASA Volunteer Supervisors Train CASA volunteers for every abused child in the Coastal Bend courts Expand CASA’s office for additional CASA supervisors. Current office space is at capacity now.

Expansion Plans:

Expansion Plans Redevelop 3000 sq. ft. building located next to the CASA office.

CASA Superhero’s Building for the Children’s  Capital Campaign :

CASA Superhero’s Building for the Children’s Capital Campaign $300,000 current estimate for redevelopment and office equipment Expansion would create: Offices for 5 volunteer supervisors allowing for 150 new CASA volunteers. Provide for up to 450 more abused children to have a life-line to a normal life.

Expansion will also include a much needed children's Playroom and Teen Lounge for the CASA volunteers to take their children after their court hearings. :
