HEARD•NY Recycled Sculptures by Nick Cave:

HEARD•NY R ecycled Sculptures by Nick Cave Ch icago-based artist Nick Cave transformed Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall with a herd of thirty colorful life-size horses that broke into choreographed movement—or “crossings”— twice a day, accompanied by live music. The project was presented by Creative Time and MTA Arts for Transit as part of a series of events celebrating the centennial of Grand Central . Nick Cave is one of the most important contemporary artists working in America today. He is represented by the Jack Shainman Gallery, and is the director of the Graduate F ashion P rogram at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His Soundsuits are meticulously handcrafted from found objects, recycled remnants, and discarded materials. They are both sculptures, and costumes for performance art.

I've logged over 40,000 miles since June 2011, traveling all over North America, sharing the good word about printing the old fashioned way, and learning a whole lot about myself and this country of ours . Tarik Echols Little City Center for the Arts, Palatine, IL and Intuit, Chicago:

Tarik Echols Little City Center for the Arts, Palatine, IL and Intuit, Chicago Tarik Echols works with marks extracted from a single written word or phrase. These words are repeated and abstracted, creating his signature style of layered imagery. Tarik’s stream-of-consciousness working method is often clearly perceivable in the finished artwork.  Snippets of words, phrases and symbols will be spread across the surface of the page, but never in a uniform manner.  Single words may stand out in isolation, while other words or phrases may flow over the page in a graceful arc, tracing the gestural action of the artist’s hand across the paper.  The words themselves may be clustered around a theme.

Paul Villinski:

Paul Villinski I am drawn to humble, yet evocative materials; in this case, crushed beer cans from the streets of New York - every one of them once raised to someone’s lips. My process of “recycling” them into images of butterflies is a quiet physical meditation, a yoga of tin snips and files and fingers.
