As we go through this Lesson… This lesson will be mainly in Spanish. Use the guided notes to fill in important information and take notes while you watch the presentation. En ingl és In English for both affirmative and negative commands we place the pronouns AFTER the verb. Give me the papers . We could also say: Give them to me. Don’t do it .

En español…:

En espa ñol… We have different rules for pronoun placement. The pronoun placement is different for affirmative (Sit down! o ¡ Siéntate !) and negative commands (Don’t sit down. o ¡No te sientes .!)

Let’s look at an example…:

Let’s look at an example… For example if Luisa’s mom had tried to wake her up 2 times and then found her asleep again she would firmly say: Luisa, get up right now!. Levantarse is our verb….we want to say get yourself up right now… ¡Luisa, levántate ahorita ! If it is an affirmative command, (telling someone to do something) attach the pronoun to the command and if it is MORE than 2 syllables add an accent mark.

Los Mandatos Afirmativos… Otro ejemplo : Put them ( las fresas ) on the table. What is the command form of poner ? Ponga What is the direct object pronoun that corresponds with las ? las Where do I put it? Think AAA. P ó nga las en la mesa.


Int é ntenlo… Brush now. ( lavarse / tú .) Take a shower please! ( ud .) Get dressed! ( vestirse / uds .) Wake up! ( despertarse (e- ie )/ tú .) Pause the video and take a few minutes to work these out for yourself.
