INTRODUCTION The JEE is the premier national engineering entrance exam conducted in India and is one of the toughest entrance exams held in the world. This exam is held for admission to undergraduate engineering programs at the IITs NITs IIIT’s other centrally/state-funded technical institutions and other prominent private institutions. Comprising of two exams the JEE Main and the JEE Advanced success in the JEE enables a student to become eligible for admission to many of the top engineering institutions in the country. While the JEE Main is an eligibility test for the JEE Advanced and used as an entrance examination by some of the states the JEE Advanced is used by the IIT’s and the ISM Dhanbad for admission to their programs.

JEE MAINS ➤ The JEE Main exam date was announced towards the end of 2015 and the admit cards for the examination have already been made available on the website. While the offline exam will be conducted on April 3 2016 the online exam will be conducted will be conducted on April 9 and 10 2016. The JEE Mains for BE/BTech admissions Paper 1 will be a three-hour examination based on objective questions from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics with negative marking. The JEE Mains for BArch admissions Paper 2 will have three parts: ➤ Mathematics Aptitude and Drawing. While the papers on Mathematics and Aptitude will have objective questions the drawing test will test the drawing aptitude of the student.

JEE ADVANCED ➤ The JEE Advanced 2016 date was announced towards the end of 2015. It will consist of 2 papers and will be held on May 22 2016. Registration for JEE Advanced opens on April 29 2016 and closes on May 4 2016. The admit card will be made available for downloading between May 11 2016 and May 22 2016. All candidates who aspire to gain admission to the undergraduate programs at the IIT’s and the ISM Dhanbad are required to take the JEE Advanced examination. The top 200000-ranked candidates from the JEE Mains exam automatically become eligible to appear in the JEE advanced exam. ➤ Final admission to the IIT’s and the ISM Dhanbad will be based on the category-wise All India Rank obtained in the JEE advanced exam.
