WHAT IS MOTIVATION?? Motivation is the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action toward a desired goal , controls, and sustains certain goal directed behaviors .

HISTORY OF MOTIVATION ::

HISTORY OF MOTIVATION : The Hawthorne studies were conducted by Elton Mayo at Hawthorne Plant in the 1920s. Hawthorne studies found that employees are not motivated solely by money but motivation is linked to employee behaviour and their attitudes . In this way the needs and motivation of employees became the primary focus of managers.

DEFINITION OF MOTIVATION ::

DEFINITION OF MOTIVATION : Internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continually interested in and committed to a job, role, or subject, and to exert persistent effort in attaining a goal .

WHAT CAN MANAGERS DO TO MOTIVATE EMPLOYEES??:

WHAT CAN MANAGERS DO TO MOTIVATE EMPLOYEES?? The manager's challenge is to figure out how to tap into that motivation to accomplish work goals. The most significant factor, that the manager controls, is his or her relationship with each employee. The second most important factor is to motivate employees is creating a work environment and organizational culture that fosters employee motivation and engagement.

At a ceremony organised here by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Samsung India to felicitate the 2012 Olympic medallists, she said she wanted to bring more laurels to the country and do one better in Rio four years from now.
