USAGE : 

USAGE Past perfect tense is the past form of the present perfect tense: Present: I am not hungry. I have just eaten. NOW Past: When I went home,I wasn’t hungry , because I had just eaten. NOW

The students hadn’t heard of the author in their lives until I mentioned him.
