Egypt Jan 11- Protest erupt against a 30 year rule Feb 11- Mubarak steps down and hands over power to army council. April 11- Mubarak and his sons are arrested on charges of corruption. Unlike tunisia , the dictator did not flee but moved to a separate place. The former chief of International Atomic Energy Agency and Nobel prize winning Dr Mohammed Elbaradei in Tahir Square had attracted world wide attention. He played a vital part in the success of the agitation.

Feb 11 protest began against unemployment and corruption against the 33 year old rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh Unlike Tunisia and Egypt, the protest were planned and organised. Saleh remained defiant and this behavior sparked a new wave of violent clashes between saleh loyalists and his armed components killing many more people.
