Evolution of the Bicycle :

Evolution of the Bicycle By: Aaron Feltham & Adrian Dyke

The First Bicycle:

The First Bicycle The first verifiable claim for a practically used bicycle belongs to German Baron Karl von Drais in 1817-1818. The first bicycles were just a frame and 2 wheels. You had to push it with your feet and coast. It wasn’t a very comfortable bike.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Ergonomics – it doesn’t look the like the most comfortable thing. Aesthetics – they tried to make it look like it you are riding a horse. Functionality – at the time it would have been functional but now it wouldn’t be because it would be hard to push yourself on it.

PowerPoint Presentation:

As the times went on so did the technology for bicycles. Some of the inventions for the bikes weren’t the greatest……

PowerPoint Presentation:

Ergonomics – it was difficult to get on the bike and to ride it. Aesthetics – it looked good but it wasn’t built the greatest. Functionality – I worked very well but it was difficult to get on and off.

PowerPoint Presentation:

By the 1870s a guy named H.J Lawson invented a leaver driven, Safety Bicycle.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Ergonomics – it was a very reliable and comfortable bike. Aesthetics – it looked very good and it was heading towards what we call a bike today. Functionality – it was more functional then the other bikes but your feet could slip of the pedals and you could injure yourself.

PowerPoint Presentation:

In 1879 H.J Lawson invented the first efficient chain driven safety bicycle.it was called the “ Bicyclette ”.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Ergonomics – it was very comfortable. Aesthetics – it looked like it was easy to ride and it was. Functionality – it worked very well and it was very easy to ride.
