Music Video Research:

Music Video Research Tom Clothier

Research Plan:

Research Plan In this PowerPoint I am going to do some research into popular, comedic music videos that have iconic moments in them. The music videos that I have chosen to research into are: Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen Is this the way to Amarillo – Tony Christie feat Peter Kay Dancing in the street – David Bowie + Mick Jagger Here we go again – Ok GO

Bohemian Rhapsody:

Bohemian Rhapsody This is the iconic shot from the bohemian rhapsody music video. The way they have created this shot is by using a very dark space and then lighting up the individual faces using some form of studio light from below. Also crucial in this shot is that Freddie the lead singer is at the for front or focal point of the shot.

Is this the way to Amarillo:

Is this the way to Amarillo The whole music video for “Is this the way to Amarillo” Is the shame shot just in different settings and using different people. The setting are a mixture of real and green screened. This is mainly done to add comic effect or some kind of context to video. There is also a part in the music video where he walks off the treadmill in front of the green screen and breaks the thirds barrier.

Dancing in the street:

Dancing in the street The dancing in the street video is performed by David Bowie and Mick Jagger and the entire video is of them dancing around with each other the industrial complex. Although the iconic aspect of stems from the celebrity aspect of having them both, more so than because of the video itself.

Here we go again:

Here we go again OK GO’s “Here we go again” music video is currently the 42nd most watched music video on Youtube and the 7 th most favorited with 62million views over both channels. The appeal of this music video is the comedic use of treadmills with dancing and choreography.
