PowerPoint Presentation:

Family 1 Hi friends, receive a greeting from the distance. My name is Jorge, I am 44 years old and my wife’s name is Lourdes who is 35 years old. Together we have a family comprised of 6 kids, the eldest of which is 15 year old. His name is Jorge Daniel, then comes my daughter Keyla Esther who is 12 years old. Juan Diego is next at 6 years old, then Miley Fernanda at 1 year 4 months old. Yapacani –Santa Cruz Bolivia Currently I live in the Heroinas neighborhood in a one brick room and another wooden room, where every month we pay rent to occupy it. My biggest wish is to have my own home. I have the land in the Jardin del Amboro neighborhood, yet I don’t have the economic resources necessary for its construction. The income that we make, is only enough to buy the food necessary for our family and the rent we pay. It is for this reason that I ask for this grand help, to be able to have my own house; and to not live ambulating from one place to another.

Dear friends, my name is Rolando, I am 42 years old, am single and I still live with my father Alberto. My mother passed away not to long ago, she was very sick. I already have a piece of land where I already have a single bedroom, but I still haven’t finished a bathroom that I began a while back. Yapacani –Santa Cruz Bolivia Family 2 I work alongside my dad and as the oldest son, I always helped with my mom’s medication. The income I have at the moment, is not enough to be able to complete the construction of the bathroom. This is why I would appreciate your help and this would be of great joy for me.

God willing your are well, I, Gregorio am writing to you. I am 63 years old, my wife’s name is Flora and we have 6 kids. 4 are boys and 2 are girls and we also have another 2 kids that were adopted and are now 16 and 14 years old. We are very unified family even though most of our kids are now married. My wife and I have worked for many years and thanks to that hard work, we have been able to build our own house. However, we haven’t had a chance to complete the construction of a bathroom with a shower, even if its a basic service. The money that we make, is not enough to be able to finish the construction; this is why we turn to you. Because with your help, we can finally be able to complete something we began many years back. Thanks to God and you for such a grand help for the most needy. Yapacani –Santa Cruz Bolivia Family 3

Not too long ago, my wife was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She is now in treatment, in a hospital where they help out the less fortunate. The money I make, is not enough to build a home of bricks, yet we have a great necessity to have a hygienic bathroom for our family. This is why, when Fr. Arturo gave us the news that our family might be able to get a room built, we begged that it be a bathroom instead; because it is of greater need right now. I would like to thank you for everything and I ask God that this dream may come true. I would like to thank you too for this noble mission that you take on to help the less fortunate. Greetings from the distance, May God bless you. I live in Yapacani for about 20 years. My name is Tomas, I am 39 years old and work as a Mason. I live, together with my 30 year old wife, Bertha, in the Tarija neighborhood. This is where, 17 years ago, I bought a lot of land and built one bedroom with its kitchen of Palm-branch. We have 7 children: Maria Alejandra, 15 years old, Miguel Angel, 14, Santiago, 12, Tomas, 9, Sebastian, 6, Meilton , 4, and lastly our little princess Velguis Mayte at 1 year 11 months old. Hi my friends, my name is Gregorio, I am 49 years old and work as a laborer in a rice mill. My wife’s name is Martina, she is 49 years old and we live together with our 13 year old son Jose Luis. We have an 18 year old daughter who has already made her own family and lives in Santa Cruz. I have worked for more than 18 years, but my income is very little. My biggest wish is to give my family a dignified home, for which, we have been saving up for some years now. We already have the brick, sand and rock, but I don’t have enough money to build. We would greatly love it if you could help us out to have our own little home. Currently, I have a piece of land located in the San Bartolome neighborhood, with one room made of wood, that although its a low land, we are very happy to not have to be paying rent. At the news that our dream might come true, we are very happy. God willing it becomes a reality. Yapacani –Santa Cruz Bolivia Family 5

Hi, I am Karina and I am 11 years old. I live with my dad, his name is Juan and my mom, whose name is Carmen. My dad works as laborer, he doesn’t have a fixed income job and my mom, as well, works washing other peoples cloths, as well as, cleaning or just has to go out selling on the streets. I have 4 brothers and 1 sister. 3 of my siblings are now older and live separately. We live as house sitters, in a land that belongs to the Nuevo neighborhood, they let us use it in exchange for keeping it clean. However, not too long ago, we were told to vacate and we have no place to go. Thanks to Chalice, we were told that we might be able to get a home built. My oldest brother offered us his valid piece of land to be build, we have prayed to God a lot to be able to receive this help; and be able to have our own home. We are very happy and appreciative with the Chalice family and all the benefactors. Yapacani –Santa Cruz Bolivia Family 6

The boarding home, Cedinc , houses about 50 young students from the rural area. Students have a safe place to live and continue their studies (as their homes are too far from school). The multi-use common area, pictured here, is used for: different encounters with the community of Cedinc , carrying out of the kids’ homework and even as a dining area for the kids. Due to inclement weather and time, the roof of the hall has been deteriorating, this is why, the need to repair is great, so that during the rainy season, water does not get into the hall. Yapacani –Santa Cruz Bolivia Wheelchair Their smiles say it all! After a stroke, this 82-year-old lady lost the use of her two legs and one arm. For lack of a better option, her husband was moving her around in a wheelbarrow... …that is, until they received funding for this wheelchair from this Community Project. What a gift!
