Presentation Description

Public Land Usage Comparison: Wild horse and Burrows versus Cattle. BLM claims wild horses are overpopulated in the Western States therefore uses brutal helicopter round ups, cruel sterilization processes and pesticides to sterilize wild mares. The truth is far-far away from this statement.

Why Wild Horse Overpopulation IS a Myth:

Why Wild Horse Overpopulation IS a Myth BLM: the public is not as stupid as you think…

Slide 2:

We have 635,600,000 acres (2,572,181.94 km 2 ) of public lands .

Slide 3:

BLM administers 247.3 million acres (1,001,000 km 2 ) of public lands.

Slide 4:

From that land, BLM designated 31,631,362 acres (128,007.58 km2) HMA: Herd Management Area, where wild horses and burrows roam freely.

Slide 5:

In the same time BLM allows Livestock Grazing with 18,000 permits in 155  million acres (630,000 km 2 ) of public lands. About 4 times the size allotted to horses.

Myth busted Average 472 acre of HMA land per horse is NOT overpopulation . Horses got 31,631,362 acres from 635,600,000 acres of public land. = 0.5% Cattle graze in 155 million acres from public land. =24%

Slide 12:

If anything is overpopulated it is the cattle, not the horse. Rounding up, taken away freedom and natural habitat, sterilizing and experimenting in wild horses is an abuse not backed up by any statistical and/or scientific data.
