With more than 35 years of diving experience Jorge Gutman has enjoyed being a certified scuba diver and underwater photographer since 1982. He actively encourages others to take the plunge and experience the beauty of the ocean. According to Jorge Gutman you do not have to be an expert to capture breath-taking underwater images if you follow a few basic tips.

Safety First Being underwater is similar to being on a different planet so it is vital to master your buoyancy and be confident with your diving skills before taking a camera underwater.

Use the Right Equipment To take beautiful underwater photos it is very important to use a flash or strobe. Additionally remember to put your camera in forced flash-mode if you are taking close-up shots.

Practice Makes Perfect Learn how to use your underwater cameras manual mode or aperture priority mode if possible so that you can better control the balance between the natural light and the light from your flash.
