Dale Dunning was born (1946) in Ottawa, Ontario. He graduated with a fine arts degree from Mount Allison University, New Brunswick, in 1969. In 1971, he received a masters of fine arts degree from the Cranbrooke Academy of Art, Michigan, focusing on sculpture. Dale Dunning works specifically in bronze. The human head has been the central focus of his work, his subjects can not be identified by gender, age, colour, or background. Dunning’s work draws strong currents of contemplation, introspection, emotion, and reflection from his viewers. Dale Dunning has held numerous solo exhibitions in major Canadian and American galleries since 1980. This list of galleries would include Galerie Dominion, Montreal, Wallack Galleries, Ottawa, Gallery Moos, Toronto, Pollock Gallery, Toronto, and presently exhibiting in Montreal galleries. The artists captivating sculptures are included in the collections of the Montreal Museum of Fine Art, The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa, Ontario, the Gardiner Collection, Toronto, and the National Library of Canada.
