Women, Education and Development : Profle of Women Social Reformers
In the 19th century, social reformers such as Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule fought against female infanticide, widow-burning, segregation of women from the public life, prostitution and begging by the destitute women. They also organised public functions for widow-remarriages. They worked for legal reforms to better lives of women in India. Many women from wealthy families of Bombay turned philanthropists and helped establish educational institutions, shelter homes and vocational training centers for women from where the first generation of women teachers, nurses, skilled workers and white collar employees such as typists, clerks, accountants and secretaries came out. Enormous amount of literature of that time, produced by the Indian social reformers in Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati and English bears witness to their path-breaking effort

Women and Matrimonial Property Rights: Prof. vibhuti Patel
Due to biases in the family laws and male domination in the legal system, women don't get adequate property rights. Women’s Right to Land and Housing *has been major concern of the women’s movement in India for over two decades. Globally, women’s land rights are becoming an area of increasing urgency. In most societies, women have historically managed the unpaid care economy and fulfilled the responsibilities of cooking, cleaning, family care, collection of fuel, fodder, water, kitchen gardening, poultry and animal husbandry and provided food and nutritional security. As women’s contribution to the economy and society at large remains unrecognised, largely underpaid and mostly unpaid, the need for women to be able to secure land and property has become even more critical.

Sexual harassment at workplace by Prof. vibhuti Patel
Women’s Movement since historic period is struggling for women’s autonomy. As a result of these continuous efforts women are seen at public places. A large number of women are working in organized and unorganized sectors. But these spaces are yet to become women friendly. Safety of women at work place from sexual harassment is a serious matter of concern. Till today there is no law on Sexual harassment of women at work place. However, the Supreme Court in Vishaka Vs State of Rajasthan has given guidelines in order to address this problem. In pursuance to the SC decision, Many public and private establishments have formed the Committees against sexual harassment of women at workplace. The committee members who do not have legal background do need guidance about the procedures that need to be followed while holding the enquiry.
