Sir Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) was from an Antwerp family. In 1591 he became a pupil Verhaecht, a landscape and decorative painter. In 1600 Rubens went to Italy and became a Court painter to Duke of Mantua. He travelled widely in Italy and visited many of the great cities.
