How to Get a Helicopter License?
1-Class III Medical Certificate – In order to become a helicopter pilot, you have to acquire a medical certificate that indicates your health status. All helicopter license offices will ask you to get a medical certificate through an approved medical center. An approved Class III medical certificate will cover your FAA helicopter license requirement as you will have to get the certificate before you are allowed to sit in for the FAA written exam. Ideally, if you are reasonably healthy, have no substance abuse problems or serious medical conditions, you will be approved for the medical certificate and the helicopter license exam. We do suggest that you get the medical examination done before you even contemplate becoming a helicopter pilot and sitting in for the helicopter training course. Get the medical examination done by an AME or an Aviation Medical Examiner. Please note that the FAA does accept many medical conditions and it is recommended that you be upfront about your health with the medical examiner. Hiding serious medical conditions could cause problems for you later on.
