Digitalis history :Digitalis history Began in 2003, with Rob Spearman and Karrie with the goal of makingcapable and affordable tools for astronomy education.
In November , 2003, they create the first Digitalis planetarium (Digitarium Alpha). The Digitarium Alpha's DLP projector and computer were enclosed in a black metal cube.
In July , 2004, the first inflatable domes made from three layers of nylon and available in several exterior colors and four diameters, are in Digitalis list of products.
In November , 2004, upgrade of the Digitarium Alpha optics, which dramatically reduced the color separation and provided overall better projection quality.
Digitalis history :Digitalis history In September , 2006, Digitalis launched the second generation projection system, the Digitarium Alpha 2.
This system was specifically designed to be user-serviceable and the computer control unit and DLP projector was set up on opposite sides of a central frame. (The Digitarium Alpha's DLP projector and computer in a black metal cube gave some problems) .
All currently available systems of Digitalis have this same design: the computer on one side of a central frame and the DLP projector on the other side of the frame.
Digitalis history :Digitalis history In May, 2007, the company introduced the Digitarium Alpha 2+, a brighter version of the Alpha 2. That same month, Digitalis introduced the current dome design, which uses a single layer of custom fabric for a much smoother projection surface than the earlier domes.
In January, 2008, Digitalis launched the Digitarium Gamma system, with improved resolution and contrast.
In September, 2008, Digitalis introduced the Digitarium Epsilon, the highest resolution system of the company.
