It lets you search for images (from Bing) and videos (from YouTube) and then insert those in PowerPoint slides.
You can also use a URL of an Image or YouTube video and insert them directly in your slide.

General authorSTREAM Questions

What do I need to install on my system for aS Desktop to work?
You need to have PowerPoint 2007 installed, aS Desktop doesn’t work with any other version of Office as of now. In addition, if you are using Search and Insert Video feature then you will need to have Adobe Flash Player ActiveX 9 or above. You can download the same from Adobe's website. Select the version supporting Windows XP/Vista or 2003, whichever is applicable in your case.
I do not see aS Desktop Ribbon, even after successful install!
It’s possible that Microsoft PowerPoint blocked the Ribbon due to some problem like improper installation or in cases when PowerPoint was not closed properly last time. You can try suggestions given in document here to enable authorSTREAM’s ribbon in such cases. If these do not help, write to us at support@authorstream.com.

Yes! It’s completely free!
What type of Content is supported in insert by URL?
authorSTREAM Desktop currently supports all types of images supported by PowerPoint. However, only YouTube Video URLs are supported at the moment.
What about other videos, in addition to YouTube?
We are planning to bring those in future versions. You can write to us at support@authorstream.com in case you have some specific type in mind.
Can I use content created for commercial purpose?
Surely you can! As long you have rights to use the content (Images and Videos) you searched and added, we have no issues with you using your PowerPoint commercially. authorSTREAM Desktop only helps you to find content and use content easily. We would recommend that you verify licensing for those before using them in your PowerPoint for commercial purpose.
Can I share PowerPoint created using aS Desktop Features elsewhere, other than authorSTREAM?
Yes for sure! Although we cannot say for sure that others will support as many features as authorSTREAM does.
How accurate are search results in authorSTREAM Desktop?
authorSTREAM Desktop uses bing and YouTube data APIs, so the search results are as good as theirs.
