1.To establish procedures, to be followed in the event of an INTERNAL EMERGENCY in 48 Model Hospital Facilities. 2. To protect Patients, Visitors, Staff, Contractors and to minimize property damage. 3. To reduce panic through staff involvement in internal emergency drills & fire drills. 4. To reduce the risk of fire in 48 Model Hospital through education and safe work habits. 5. To practice an orderly evacuation procedure in the event that the evacuation becomes necessary.:

To evacuate the patients, visitors, staff : Priority 1. Ambulatory: Able to walk alone, unattended. Priority 2. Semi-Ambulatory: Require some assistance. Priority 3. Non-Ambulatory: Require significant assistance. Priority 4. Special: Require very special assistance. :

Never leave a group of patients unattended Use wheelchairs, if available. Blanket-drag is primary recommended method of moving a patient. Place as many children as possible in one crib. Blind patients should be told to get close to the floor and keep in physical contact with a leader. Deaf patients should be directed by gestures and also escorted from the area. :

Drill Critique A drill at full facility level shall be thoroughly documented and critiqued. Deficiencies identified shall be addressed positively and promptly. A critique meeting must be held immediately after the completion of the full fire drill to be lead by safety committee chairman
