Extraordinary:

Extraordinary Not normal Something which others may find frightening, crazy, astonishing Something that most people never try 8 Because only the extraordinary is inspiring

Alphonse de Lamar-tine Historie de le Turquie, Paris 1854, Vol.11.Pages 276-77:

9 Alphonse de Lamar-tine Historie de le Turquie , Paris 1854, Vol.11.Pages 276-77 “If greatness of purpose, smallness of means and astounding results are the three criteria of human genius, who would dare to compare any great man in history with Muhammad? Philosopher, apostle, legislator, warrior, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational beliefs, of a cult without images, the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and one spiritual empire, that is Muhammad. As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?”

To be Extraordinary…:

To be Extraordinary… To be extraordinary is to be abnormal in the best of ways. To listen to a message in the mind that others can only wonder at. To march to a beat that others are unable to hear – yet to be able to inspire them to fall in step. 10 Only the extraordinary are inspiring

Exercise:

Exercise In groups of 3 tell your group about one extraordinary action you took and what happened as a result What is the lesson you learnt from this? If you had another chance would you do the same thing ? 11 20 minutes

Heraclius of Byzantium:

Heraclius of Byzantium ‘If what you have told me is true then he will have the supremacy right here where I stand. I knew his time was due but I did not think that he would belong to your people. Had it been in my power I would have certainly taken the trouble to meet him and to wash his feet .’ 12 His worst enemies were forced to speak in his favor

Faith:

Faith “When you come to the end of the light of all that you know and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen. There will be something firm to stand on or you will be taught how to fly.” ~ Barbara Winters 15

Notice the use of words:

Notice the use of words S he doesn’t say, ‘Faith is believing.’ She says, ‘Faith is knowing,’ and in that is a world of difference. To believe with complete certainty without the possibility of doubt is to know. That is what enables one to take risk. To step off the edge knowing that you will not be allowed to crash; but that instead you will step on to another level of awareness and connection with Allah  that you never thought possible. 16

Talaaq 65:2-3 And for those who fear Allah, He (always) prepares a way out (of difficulty), And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine. And if any one puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him. 17

Faith is not blind…:

Faith is not blind… It sees what those who have no faith are blind to. It sees through the lens of love, of devotion, of gratitude for favors done – without reason. Faith lights the dark road of disappointment at the end of backbreaking effort because it knows that success and failure in this path is not measured in miles but by the willingness to stand up and make that effort to please the One who knows what is in your heart. 18 Faith is the yearning to be with the beloved

Faith = Tawakkul:

Faith = Tawakkul To me, faith is a dynamic process that is based on the interaction of three factors: Patience in the face of hardship and thankfulness for Allah  ’s bounties; R epentance for our transgressions and mistakes S eeking Allah  ’s pleasure and closeness to Him by His worship because we love Him. 19

Tawba (Repentance):

Tawba (Repentance) Tawba is the first condition of guidance because Tawba indicates an attitude of wanting to change. No change can happen unless a person is conscious of the need for it. Tawba indicates that we have become conscious of the need to change our attitudes and ways. 21 Only the one who wants to change can decide to change

The first lesson…:

The first lesson… That Allah  taught Adam & Hawwa  was Tawba. Both Adam & Hawwa  and Iblîs disobeyed Allah  . But the difference was in their attitude when they became conscious of their mistake. 22 Attitude spells the difference between Jannah & Jahannam

A’araf 7:23.  They said: "Our Rabb! We have wronged ourselves. If You don’t forgive us and don’t grant us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers." 23

A’araf 7:14.  ( Iblîs ) said: "Allow me respite till the Day they are raised up.” 24 What do we do today when we are asked to change our ways?

Tawba wal Istighfaar:

Tawba wal Istighfaar Istighfaar means to seek forgiveness and Tawba means to ‘return to Allah  .’ When one realizes his mistakes then he seeks the forgiveness of Allah  and then becomes obedient to Allah  so by his actions he is returning to Allah  25 Tawba is the root of all goodness

Tawba is a journey:

Tawba is a journey Hijra from the disliked to the liked F rom disobedience to obedience From Allah  ’s anger to His Grace 26 From Jahannam to Jannah

Az-Zumar 39:53.  Say: "O ' Ibâdî  (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing sins )! Despair not of the Mercy of Allâh, verily Allâh forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful 27

Conditions of Tawba:

Conditions of Tawba Be genuinely contrite and ashamed of what you did and seek forgiveness Never return to that action ever again Compensate/apologize to those you wronged 28 Allah  doesn’t forgive sins against people

Ghafir 40:7.  Those (angels) who bear the Throne (of Allâh) and those around it glorify the praises of their Rabb, and believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh) (saying): "Our Rabb! You comprehend all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your Way, and save them from the torment of the blazing Fire! 8.  "Our Rabb! And make them enter the ' Adn  (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens) which you have promised them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 9.  "And save them from (the punishment, because of what they did of) the sins, and whomsoever You save from (the punishment, because of what they did of) the sins (i.e. excuse them) that Day, him verily, You have taken into mercy." And that is the supreme success . 30

Furqan 25: 70.  Except those who repent and believe (in Islâm ), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 31

Shukr:

32 Ibrahim: 14: And (remember) when your Rabb proclaimed: "If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allâh), I will give you more (of My Blessings), but if you are thankless (disbelievers ), verily! My Punishment is indeed severe ."

Shukr:

Shukr It is the right of Allah  that He should be thanked for what He gave us His biggest bounty is Tawba He increases the blessings of the thankful Being thankless is a punishment in itself 33 Thankfulness is the secret of contentment

Sabr:

Sabr Is not to fatalistically accept difficulties Is to do your utmost to change the situation and then stand before Allah  Sabiroon = Mujahidoon 34 Sabr is the measure of true commitment

Baqara 2:153 O you who believe! Seek help in Sabr and As-Salat. Truly! Allah is with As- Sabireen (the patient ones). 35 Sabr

Sabr:

Sabr is action; to make the ultimate effort and then to rely on Allah  . Rasoolullah  at Badr after making all preparations that he could do, using his meager resources to the best of his ability, then stood before his Rabb and made his famous dua “O Allâh! The conceited and haughty Quraysh are already here defying You and belying Your Messenger. O Allâh! I am waiting for Your victory which You have promised me. I beseech You Allâh to defeat them. O Allâh! Should this group (Muslims) be defeated today, there will be nobody left to worship you on the earth.” 36 Sabr

Love of Allah:

Love of Allah  It’s not whether we love Allah  or not but whether Allah  loves us? Is not like love of anyone or anything else Is expressed only through obedience 37 Those who love Allah never disobey Him - His Anbiya

Baqara 2:165. And of mankind are some who take (for worship) others besides Allah as rivals (to Allah). They love them as they love Allah. But those who believe, love Allah more (than anything else) . If only, those who do wrong could see, when they will see the torment, that all power belongs to Allah and that Allah is Severe in punishment. 38

Furqan 25:43-44. Have you (O Muhammad) seen him who has taken as his Ilaah (god) his own desire? Would you then be a Wakil (advocate or a watcher) over him? Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (even worse than cattle ). 39

PowerPoint Presentation:

Hadith Qudsi: On the authority of Abu Hurairah  , who reported that Rasoolullah  said: "Allah  said: Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My slave draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My slave continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory (Nawaafil) works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful slave: he hates death and I hate hurting him." [Bukhari ] 40

PowerPoint Presentation:

On the authority of Abu Hurairah  , who reported that Rasoolullah  said: "If Allah  loves slave [of His], He calls Jibreel (AS) and says: 'I love So-and-so, therefore love him.'" He (Rasoolullah  ) said: "So Jibreel loves him. Then he (Jibreel) calls out in heavens, saying: 'Allah loves So-and-so, therefore love him.' And the inhabitants of heaven love him." He (Rasoolullah  ) said: "Then acceptance is established for him on earth. And if Allah  hates a slave [of His], He calls Jibreel (AS) and says: 'I abhor So-and-so, therefore abhor him.' So Jibreel abhors him. Then Jibreel calls out to the inhabitants of heaven: 'Allah  abhors So-and-so, therefore abhor him.'" He (Rasoolullah  ) said: "So they abhor him, and hatred is established for him on earth." [Muslim, Bukhari, Malik, and at- Tirmidhi ] 41

Allah created a connected world:

Allah  created a connected world Every action produces two kinds of consequences. One in this life and an attendant one in the Aakhira. Those interested in leadership and in influencing people must realise that without a connection with Allah  and without becoming obedient to Allah  , they can’t expect people to love them . 44 The lines are drawn so choose wisely

Goal:

Goal It is the nature of the extraordinary goal to inspire extraordinary effort All great legacies are born from the extraordinary goal Because our life is too valuable to be wasted doing ordinary things 46 It is what you will be remembered for even if you don’t reach it

Extraordinary Goal:

Extraordinary Goal It is the nature of the extraordinary goal to inspire extraordinary effort All great legacies are born from the extraordinary goal Because our life is too valuable to be wasted doing ordinary things 47 It is what you will be remembered for even if you don’t reach it

Extraordinary Goal:

Extraordinary Goal Rasoolullah  said , ‘Don’t be sad my daughter. A day will come when this message will reach every temporary or permanent dwelling on the face of the earth.’ Here was a man speaking about freeing the world when he couldn’t even guarantee his own freedom. Here was a man who was concerned about the eternal wellbeing of uncaring strangers . 48 It is the nature of the extraordinary goal to inspire extraordinary effort.

Commitment :

Commitment Total dedication to the cause Seeing what others call sacrifice as your investment Considering the return worth the investment 50 Is the line you cross between wanting and doing

Put yourself on the line:

Put yourself on the line The most famous story from the Seerah which demonstrates Rasoolullah  ’s personal commitment to taking Islam to anyone who will listen is the story of his journey to At-Ta’aif to the leaders of Banu Thaqeef. 51 Because results come from action Not from talking about acting

Dua at Ta’aif:

Dua at Ta’aif “So long as You are not angry with me, I do not care. Your favor is of a more expansive relief to me. I seek refuge in the light of Your Face by which all darkness is dispelled and every affair of this world and the next is set right, lest Your anger or Your displeasure descends upon me. I desire Your pleasure and satisfaction until You are pleased. There is no power and no might except by You .” 52 Hitting the target is a function of focus

Position of the Believer:

Position of the Believer Between fear and hope No excuses Focused only on the pleasure of Allah  Willing to do whatever it takes to win 53 Resilience to get up and keep going long after others have fallen by the wayside

Men Around the Messenger by Khaalid Muhammad Khaalid:

Men Around the Messenger by Khaalid Muhammad Khaalid “It was neither invented discourse nor false rumor that was recorded in history about the great company of men who came into the world of belief and faith. That is because the entirety of human history has never witnessed such accurate documentation, honesty, and investigation of facts as did that epoch of Islamic history and its men. An extraordinary human effort has been exerted to study and pursue its tidings. Successive generations of able and brilliant scholars have not left unexamined even the smallest details nor minutest explanations concerning that early epoch without putting them under microscopic investigation, scrutiny, and criticism .” 57 Islam has no mythology – only undisguised truth

Lesson well learnt:

Lesson well learnt He said, ‘man kaana ya-abudu Muhammadan in kaana Muhammadan qad-maat . Wa in kaana ya-budullah fa innallaha hayyun la yamooth . ( Whoever worshipped Muhammad  know that Muhammad  is dead. Whoever worshipped Allah  know that Allah  never dies.) 58

A’al Imraan 3:144.  Muhammad is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)? And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allâh, and Allâh will give reward to those who are grateful . 59

Abu Bakr:

Abu Bakr  Rasoolullah  ’s mission was not merely to convey his message but to prepare a generation to take it forward. Abu Bakr  led that generation. It is sufficient to end this chapter with this story because history is witness to what happened thereafter in times and lands he never saw. 60 The most difficult task of the leader, is not to get people to follow his commands, but to get them to dream his dream.

Extraordinary Quality :

Extraordinary Quality Clear action strategy Clear metrics Clear accountability 61 Because only what you deliver can be measured And only what is measured, counts.

Extraordinary Quality:

Extraordinary Quality Quality is the single biggest differentiator , the single biggest inspiration for followers and the single biggest guarantee of ongoing success . Quality is what someone is able to experience in every interaction with you 62 Quality needs no explanation

He (Rasoolullah  ) said: That you worship Allah as if you are seeing Him, for though you don't see Him, He, verily, sees you . ~Sahih Muslim 63

People came to Islam:

People came to Islam Because they saw the ways of Muslims and liked them so much Not because they listened to lectures Not because they were forced We have the same Islam today, but what happened? 64 No change of heart can ever be forced
