The Marine Corps League: 

The Marine Corps League The Marine Corps League is the organization for all Marines. It was founded in 1923 by MGen John A. LeJeune and was granted a Federal Charter by an Act of the Seventy-Fifth Congress of the United States of America and signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 4, 1937

Purposes of the Marine Corps League: 

Purposes of the Marine Corps League The purposes as prescribed in its Federal Charter are: To preserve the traditions and promote the interests of the United States Marine Corps; To band those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps with those who have been honorably discharged together in fellowship to promote ideals of American freedom and democracy;

To fit its members for the duties of citizenship and to encourage them to serve as ably as citizens as they did under arms; To hold sacred the history and memory of the men who have given their lives to the Nation; To foster love for the principles which they have supported by blood and valor; To maintain true allegiance to American institutions; To create a bond of comradeship between those in the service and those who have returned to civil life;

Membership: 

Membership Membership is open to all: Marines who served honorably for a minimum of 90 days U. S. Navy Corpsmen who were assigned to a Fleet Marine Force unit in excess of 90 days and were awarded the FMF device for the service ribbon

Programs of the Marine Corps League Marine Corps League Auxiliary A social and fraternal organization comprised of spouses, mothers and distaff members of Marines and former Marines Young Marines of the Marine Corps League A youth program emphasizing honesty, courage, respect, industry, loyalty, dependability, and a sense of devotion to God, country, community, and family

Scholarship Program Members of the Marine Corps League fund scholarships through donations from individual members and subordinate units. Children and former Marines are eligible for academic scholarships for attendance at accredited colleges and universities Annual Conventions An ideal vacation venue for members and family members. Held in a different city each year with many planned activities and tours related to these get-togethers

Legislative Program The Marine Corps League participates in National and State legislative issues that affect military readiness, benefits and entitlements of active duty, former and retired Marines …and much, much more!

Community Service Programs: 

Community Service Programs Veterans Service Officer Program The National Headquarters retains a full-time staff member who assists veterans in adjudicating claims against the government as a result of active duty service. Claims are processed through the Department of Veterans Affairs or other appropriate agencies of the federal government

Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service Program (VAVS) Marine Corps League members contribute thousands of hours annually to supplement staffs at VA Hospitals and facilities in providing morale, comfort, and assistance to institutionalized veterans Youth Physical Fitness Program The League developed and administers a program that provides a physical fitness regimen that promotes a healthy, drug free life style for elementary and high school students

Membership Dues: 

Membership Dues Annual Dues $25.00 paid to detachment $5.00 to department $17.00 to National, $12.00 renewal Remainder of dues stays with detachment Life Member Dues are $250.00 up to age 40, $200.00 for 41-50, $150.00 for 51-60, and $75.00 for 61 and up

Military Order of Devil Dogs: 

Military Order of Devil Dogs The “fun and honor” society of the Marine Corps League. Active members may be initiated into the Devil Dogs only if they request membership Membership dues are minimal Life membership is available only to those Devil Dogs who are Life Members of the Marine Corps League and have been elevated to the rank of Pedigreed Devil Dog

A Different Breed: 

A Different Breed Devil Dogs are the elite of the Marine Corps League At the National Convention held the first week of August each year, the Devil Dogs present a check to the Childrens’ Hospital nearest the convention site Normally in excess of $10,000.00 is donated
