One year ago, students 6th-8th grades in ACES answered a survey saying that most of the problems between classmates were in : Restrooms Parties

The worst problems were: Talking bad behind someone’s back, rumors and gossips. Name-calling about someone’s abilities like intelligence, how good or bad they are at sports, or disability with intention to make fun others. Excluding someone on purpose. Hurtful comments or pictures in texting or in any kind of social sites (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat)

Presentación de PowerPoint:

We invite you to design papers where you will write the name of the student or staff member that you catch being a hero or an Upstander. Hand it to the hero so they can put it up in the “Heroes bulletin board” that you can have at the entrance of your school T oday ___________________________________________ was a hero ! Presentación de PowerPoint:

During school time... What can we do when we see or hear situations of exclusion or name calling? The video might seem impossible but we know of many schools that are already living this way. Each and everyone of us can make this happen.

Presentación de PowerPoint:

Upstanders can do so MUCH! Spend time with the person targeted, sit down with them, hang out with them. Talk to the targets at school to encourage them. Help the target get away from a situation where the behavior was going on. Listen to the target. Give advice about what the target should do. Call the person targeted at home to encourage them and let them know they don’t deserve to be mistreated ever. Help the target tell an adult. Distract the people who where treating them badly. Tell an adult, report the situation to seek help. Stop a rumor! Smile at someone intentionally. Wave hello to a classmate you usually avoid. Compliment someone (especially if you know they need it ). Invite someone new to sit with you at lunch. Acknowledge someone’s strengths in class. Make a positive comment about what another person DID, not who they are, concentrate on what a person DOES. Sit next to someone who is sitting alone (in class, or anywhere ). Offer someone to be their partner in a project (especially if they rarely have anyone to work with ). Don’t laugh along when you see someone being teased. Sit down with a younger student, and let them know how it was when you were their age. STOP A RUMOR THAT IS SPREADING ONLINE
