Learn to take words apart to discover their meaning by using root words, prefixes, and suffixes! Trust me, you’ll be surprised on how many of them you’ve forgotten and how much they will help you with college vocabulary. Take a look! Root words : Root words A root word is the most basic form of a word that is able to convey a particular description, thought or meaning. Getting to the Root of Things : Getting to the Root of Things To broaden your vocabulary, you need to know the meaning of the most common root words in the English language. Knowing these roots will help you understand unfamiliar words that you encounter in text.
