Presentation Description

This is about an 8 minute Power Point presentation featuring the original fine art of Scott J. Morgan. I recommend listening to your favorite music while watching. It seems to go well with Miles Davis! Please contact me with any questions.

“Scott J. Morgan seems to be exploring a different genre of abstract expressionism in each of his paintings… I noticed a veritable history lesson in 20th century abstraction. Morgan seems to pay homage (maybe subconsciously) to the most influential abstract artists, from Wassily Kandinsky to the New York School on up to Richard Diebenkorn. But this Seattle-based artist has put much of himself into these pieces as well; you can see this part-time musician’s tendencies in his jazz-like compositions…” Review of exhibit at Wild Hands Gallery – Jackson, Wyoming Planet Jackson Hole, Sept. 26, 2003 by Curtis Olson – artist, architect, art critic :

2006 During the past 26 years Scott has crafted paintings in the tradition of short stories, passages of improvisational jazz and interpretive dance. His journeys to Mexico, China, Central America and the Caribbean have influenced his color palette and sense of style. His experiences as a professional musician are evident in the rhythm and movement in his work. The structural and sculptural qualities seen in his work are informed by his extensive career as a landscape architect. :

His paintings evolve through an intuitive approach that requires a dynamic medium. Oil paint provides the flexibility to allow Scott to move through many scenarios and dialogues with the work. Movement and rhythm, line, form and color are the tools that provide links to the ever evolving story lines. :

“The circle and spiral in combination with line are the essential elements of my work. I am interested in the history of these primitive forms and their evolution into modern urban mythology. From cellular structure to the concentric circular patterns of the earliest tribal villages to the vibrant red ‘Target’ logo we see daily on television, the circle may be the most prolific symbol in our world. “ Scott J.
