Abomination of Desolation :Abomination of Desolation The last single event Jesus Christ mentions before his return is the “abomination of desolation.” (Matthew 24:15) This is a technical term for an idol being placed in the Jewish temple. (1)


Abomination of Desolation :Abomination of Desolation One will take place right before the return of Christ when the antichrist sits in a rebuilt temple and sets himself up to be God. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-4) (2)


When Does the Abomination Occur? :When Does the Abomination Occur? The book of Daniel reveals the specific time of the abomination of desolation. According to Daniel 9:27, a European antichrist will make an agreement with Israel for seven years.


Agreement for Seven Years :Agreement for Seven Years At the middle of this agreement the abomination of desolation takes place.

Daniel 9:27 :Daniel 9:27 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."


The Meaning of Daniel 9:27 :The Meaning of Daniel 9:27 The man who confirms the covenant is from Europe. Daniel 9:26 says that the future ruler will come from the same people group who will destroy the temple. These people were the Romans. (4) (5) (3)


The Meaning of Daniel 9:27 :The Meaning of Daniel 9:27 This man confirms the agreement for seven years. We know this because the historical fulfillment of the first part of this prophecy (Daniel 9:24-26) clearly demonstrates that one “seven” is seven years.
