Premium member Presentation Transcript Keagan isChecking the Net : Keagan isChecking the Net Slide 2: This is Keagan clearing the ice pieces from the main ice hole. This is a necessary part of checking a net so the net comes out without getting stuck on the pieces. Slide 3: It is important to monitor children as it can be dangerous if you fall in the hole. Keagan enjoys helping out where he can. Slide 4: Keagan has been checking the net for 2 years already at this point. Steady as it goes. Slide 5: A good catch. Keagan is taking out a Whitefish from the net. He gets right into it. It is important that you use proper clothes as the fish comes out wet. Slide 6: Concentration, Keagan is using a special tool called a fish hook to help him take the fish out of the net. Slide 7: This is Keagan Great Grandfather (Chapan) William, he is Keagan’s cultural teacher. William has been setting nets here at this spot since he was Keagans age. Slide 8: Learn to do by doing, this is how Keagan will become a master at checking the net. His Chapan has been teaching Keagan how to check the net for two years. Slide 9: Another fish, seems to go on and on, but the net is only 100 meters long. Look at how many fish we caught. Slide 10: Keagan is showing how it is done. Make sure you hold the fish steady as it will move and squirm. Slide 11: Making the grade, Keagan is watched by his Chapan as he takes out another fish. Slide 12: Step one move the net away form the fish. Slide 13: Step two take the hook and slide the rest of the net off the fish. Slide 14: Step three half way finished. The fish is almost out. Slide 15: Step four never give up and work, work, work. Slide 16: Step five move it again if necessary and keep at it. This is not easy it takes time. Slide 17: Maybe it I stick my tongue out a bit it will help. Slide 18: Take my glove off going in for the final moves to get the fish out. Slide 19: You see this is how you do it. The fish is almost out and soon we will pack it in the Sleigh and snowmobile. Slide 20: Hey look at this one it is a sucker. Slide 21: This one is a pickerel, we also call it a walleye because the tourist that come visit in the summer know it that way better. Slide 22: Whoa stop squirming I need to put you in the Sleigh. Slide 23: Oh man I have lots of work to do. I have to pick up all these fish and put them in the Sleigh. Better get busy Slide 24: Now we are finished checking the net Slide 25: Here is our snowmobile, and I have to put the fish in. Slide 26: I will count them later as I need to finished my job.
