Warehouse as a Queuing system : 

Little’s Law: For a queuing system in steady state the average length L of the queue equals the average arrival rate λ times the average waiting time W. i.e. L = λ W little’s law applies and the average amount of product in the warehouse equals the arrival rate of the product multiplied by the average time product is resident in our warehouse. So, (1/W) will be the inventory turnover. Warehouse as a Queuing system

Inventory turnover-Central : 

Average amount of product in the warehouse (L) = 180000 pieces / year Arrival rate of product (λ) = 1320000 pieces / year By applying Little’s Law, L = λ W 180000 = 1320000 × W W = 180000/ 1320000 W = 0.136 So, inventory turnover of Central = 1/ 0.136 = 7.35 Inventory turnover-Central

Inventory turnover-Brand factory : 

Average amount of product in the warehouse (L) = 95000 pieces / year Arrival rate of product (λ) = 1050000 pieces / year By applying Little’s Law, L = λ W 95000 = 1050000 × W W = 95000/ 1050000 W = 0.0904 So, inventory turnover of Brand Factory = 1/ 0.0904 = 11.06 Inventory turnover-Brand factory

Analysis on manpower and work- Central : 

No of working days = 302 No of hours per shift = 8 Arrival rate of product for central (λ) = 1320000 pieces Then λ = 1320000/302 = 4370 per day λ = 4370/ 8 = 546 per hour Total no of workers for Central = 20 So, λ = 546/20 = 27.3 pieces /man-hour Analysis on manpower and work- Central
