There are two types of articles. Indefinite 'a' and ‘an’. Definite 'the'. Slide 2: Indefinite articles – a and an. Refer to something that is not specifically known to the person you are communicating with. E.g.- I ate a banana for lunch. Used before nouns that introduce something or someone you have not mentioned before. E.g.- I saw an elephant this morning. A and an are also used when talking about your profession . E.g.- I am a teacher. I am an engineer. Definite Article - the . ‘The’ is used to talk about something which is known. Also used when you have already mentioned the thing you are talking. The first time you speak of something use "a or an", the next time you repeat that object use "the". E.g.-I live in a house. The house is quite old and has four bedrooms.
