She was the daughter of Irish immigrant, Thomas Sullivan and Alice Cloesy. She had one brother who was crippled from tuberculosis. At age 5, trachoma struck Anne, leaving her almost completely blind. In 1874 , her mother died and her father abandoned his children to an orphanage in Tewksbury. Born on April 14, 1866 in Feeding Hills, Massachusetts. Full name at birth was Johanna Mansfield Sullivan. Field of teaching Died on October 20, 1936 (age 70) at Forest Hills, New York. Anne Sullivan

Anne Sullivan Anne Sullivan graduated from Perkins School for the Blind in 1886. Anne Sullivan arrived at Keller's house in the Alabama town of Tuscumbia on March 3, 1887. Anne met Helen Keller when she was six yrs. old and began to teach Helen to communicate by spelling words into her hand. Her techniques are still fundamental in deaf blind education. H er father, Joseph Grosholtz, was killed in the Seven Years' War. Her mother, Anne-Marie Walder , moved to Bern where she worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Philippe Curtius (1741–1794). In 1767, Tussaud and her mother moved to Paris with Curtius. Curtius taught Tussaud the art of wax modeling. Maria Tussaud Born on December 1, 1761 in Strasbourg, France. Birth name is Anna Maria Grosholtz. Field of wax sculpting Died on April 16, 1850 (age 88) at London, England.

Maria Tussaud In 1777, she created her first wax figure . In Paris, Tussaud became involved in the French Revolution. Met many important figures, including Napoleon Bonaparte and Robespierre . Tussaud was employed to make death masks of the victims of the guillotine. In 1835, she established her first permanent exhibition on Baker Street. Maria Tussaud Molding a death mask of Queen Marie Antoinette after her execution in 1793.

Florence Nightingale Florence Nightingale was born into a rich, upper-class. Her mother was Frances ("Fanny") Nightingale née Smith (1789–1880 ). Her father was William Edward Nightingale(1794–1874). Nightingale was educated mainly by her father. Decided to enter the field of nursing in 1844. S he rebelled against the role for a woman to become a wife and mother. Born on May 12,1820 in Florence , Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Died on August 13, 1910 ( age 90) London , England .

Florence Nightingale In 1854 , she and 38 volunteer nurses were sent to Scutari in Turkey(Crimean War). In 1860, she established the Nightingale Training School for nurses in London. Nightingale's theories were published in 'Notes on Nursing' (1860 ). She developed a Model Hospital Statistical Form for hospitals to collect consistent data and statistics. H er practices for sanitation, military health and hospital planning are still used today.
