Factor of safety with respect to shear strength : Factor of safety with respect to cohesion SEEPAGE PER M LENGTH PHREATIC LINE DRAWING METHODS GRAPHYCAL METHOD ANALYTICAL METHOD WITH FILTER & WITHOUT FILTER Locate first point C at distance 0.3 L from point B where L=slope*height of w.l. Locate F focus at starting of filter. Draw arc C as a center and CF as radious such that it cut d/s slope Draw a vertical line passing through d/s cut point This vertical line cuts filter at point H Draw a mid point G of FH line Find distance between FC’ devide it in four segments. Draw vertical line through each segment as shown PQ line in figure Draw arc on this PQ vertical line by F as center and QH as radious Repeat same procedure for another four segment obtain points and join as shown in figure Draw point C as 0.3 L away from point B. locate point F at d/s face end Draw arc away from d/s slope C as center and CF as radious Draw tangent vertical to this arc obtain H on d/s floor. Draw point G as mid of FH Divide FC’ In four segment draw vertical line through it (PQ LINE) Take F as center and QH as radious draw arc on this point and gate similar points on other lines Joint drawn points as shown in fig. obtain J & K
