Total Quality Management (TQ, QM or TQM) and Six Sigma (6 ) are sweeping “culture change” efforts to position a company for greater customer satisfaction, profitability and competitiveness. TQ may be defined as managing the entire organization so that it excels on all dimensions of products and services that are important to the customer. We often think of features when we think of the quality of a product or service; TQ is about conformance quality, not features.

The TQM philosophy must be effectively communicated to each and every employees and departments so that it is clearly understood through out the organization. The TQM programme should be properly designed to meet the requirements of customer. The participation of all the employees should be encouraged so that innovative ideas are put forward by the employees . TQM should not be imposed upon employees. The management should make TQM an employees programme through proper education of workers .
